Artist Nancy Thomas At Trifles Saturday Nancy Thomas, a nationally known contemporary artist who has lived and painted in historic Yorktown Virginia for the past 30 years, will be at Trifles this Saturday, May 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. Her work is prized throughout the county for its wonderful color, warmth and style. She is best known for her calendar months. Recently, she added a children’s series, which has been favorably received. For many who have been following her career since its inception, we associate her with wooden pieces for the movie, “Tootsie.” Thomas was commissioned to create pieces of art which appeared in the living room of the character played by Jessica Lange, the bestknown being the “Tootsie” angel. It will be available for purchase as well as her logo angel and tree-top angels; Trifles will be displaying an original. Fans are amazed at how vibrant her images are. Thomas’ art appears in the homes of thousands of collectors as well as in magazines and in decorator books, in museums, in Hollywood films, on Broadway and on television. Many local residents know Daphne, Trifles’ beautiful mixed black Labrador, who also serves as mascot and official greeter. “Daphne was delighted to hear that Ms. Thomas was visiting,” Susan Partamian said. “She wants to thank her for the ever-popular dog plaques and mugs.” For cat lovers, Nancy Thomas has a grouping of cats with game boards. She will happily discuss the project with Trifles visitors. Thomas’ earlier scheduled visit this spring was postponed due to illness. “We at Trifles are delighted to announce she is well now and will be joining us Saturday, May 13, at 2 p.m.,” Partamian said. “It is the gift-giving season: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduation and June Weddings. What a perfect opportunity to find that appropriate present and have it signed by the artist herself.” Trifles is located at 1375 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Lemonade and refreshments will be served.
