Volunteers Needed For CV Prom Plus 2006 Crescenta Valley High School seniors who don’t want to go home after the last dance at their senior prom can still take their abundance of energy to a safe venue, thanks to the school’s Prom Plus program. For the past thirteen years, Prom Plus has been part of the prom night plans of many CV seniors and their guests. The program began after the tragic murder of a CV high school senior at an unsupervised post-prom hotel party. Prom Plus, an alternative to unchaperoned parties, offers a supervised post-prom event at Crescenta-Cañada YMCA from midnight to 5:30 a.m. Included with the purchase of a prom ticket, Prom Plus provides a variety of activities for guests, including a full casino with blackjack, poker (including Texas Hold’em), craps and roulette. There’s also a mechanical bull, pool tables, a Gyroscope, temporary tattoos, a rock climbing wall, and a food court that includes sandwiches, hors d’oeuvres, freshly baked cookies, smoothies, coffee drinks and breakfast. Prom Plus is also open to CV seniors who do not attend the prom. Prom Plus is looking for volunteers to help with the event. People are needed from 11:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27, until 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning to bake cookies, assist with the many activities, deal cards or hand out prizes. Bob Fletcher, volunteer coordinator, can be reached at (818) 957- 4203 for details on volunteering for Prom Plus. Financial support is also welcome. For more information about Prom Plus, contact Robin Goldsworthy at (818) 248-2740 or via e-mail at prrobin@juno.com.
