Winter Wonderland...(Sort Of)
The Festival In Lights celebration,
presented by the La Cañada
Flintridge Chamber of Commerce,
drew hundreds of local families to
Memorial Park last Thursday.
The 2007 Miss LCF Court, consisting
of Amanda Bungartz, Abigail
Chang, Lisa Leyda, Melissa
Woodhouse and Liah Zirler, was
announced at the event. (The queen
will be named Jan. 25.)
Music was provided by the local
band Misplaced Priorities as well as
children’s groups from local elementary
schools. Local vendors offered
food for purchase, and the LCF
Youth Chamber provided a hot
chocolate stand. Raffle prizes were
awarded throughout the evening, and
tickets were available in exchange
for receipts from LCF stores.
Children enjoyed a play area
with seven tons of snow and a petting
zoo with baby reindeer and
zebras. Santa was on hand to listen
to the Christmas wishes of 239 children.
“It was an amazing event,” LCF
Chamber President Joe Thompson
said. “I had so many people thank
me about it. We had a lot of great
feedback.
“We had more people attend
than we’ve ever had; it was a lot
more than last year. Everybody had
a good time. It was a great event.”
Pat Anderson, the Chamber’s
executive director, seemed to agree.
“I want to thank our many business
members for their very generous
support and all those who
attended the event,” Anderson said.
“We have received many compliments
as to how successful the
event was.”
