Letters to the Editor

Post Office Disarray

Thanks for Sue Stauffer’s column on the current efficiency of a postal system which was once the best in the world.

It’s nice to know that I am not the only one (along with others have heard complaining in the lines at the La Cañada Post Office) that feels this way.

The lack of enough people at the post office in La Cañada is appalling. This is a diverse ethnic community and many of the transactions at the local P.O. are long as items are being mailed out of the country. With only two windows open and this happening, it is not long till a line has formed.

As for getting wrong mail, have cancelled credit cards and had to ask for a new one as the bill never arrived. Where it went is anyone’s guess but I was not taking chances in this day and age of idenity theft.

Thanks for writing what others are thinking. You did it in a very direct way. Please keep up the good work.

Oh yes, the “Outlook” is my favorite local paper.

Local Schools Benefit From Programs

Congratulations to the Ralphs Community Contributions giveback program for its generosity to our schools, and to Paradise Canyon Elementary’s PTA for the program’s high level of participation by its families, which resulted in more than $5,500 being donated to the school in a quarterly “giveback” by Ralphs.

As the PTA president at Palm Crest Elementary, I’d like to make a minor clarification on the photo caption that appeared in last week’s article announcing the donation to PCY by Ralphs. Although the article invited readers to register their Ralphs card to benefit PCY, any school, church or non-profit organization may be designated to receive funds from participants’ spending at Ralphs. Palm Crest, La Cañada Elementary, La Cañada High School and the many private schools in our area are all designated recipients.

In these times of insufficient public funding for our schools, every available dollar counts. Please visit www.ralphs.com/ccprogram.htm to enroll in the Ralphs Community Contributions program, and enroll at www.escrip.com for give-backs from Vons and other retailers, too. Tell your friends, family and neighbors to sign up because it costs nothing and a small percentage of all your spending at these retailers can make a big difference to our schools.
