Kiwanis Honors LCE Terrific Kids
On Wednesday, January 10, the
La Cañada Kiwanis Club honored
outstanding sixth grade students
from La Cañada Elementary
School at their weekly luncheon
meeting. Kiwanian Pat Flynn
introduced the Terrific Kids, their
parents and family members to the
Kiwanis and guests. This Kiwanis
program is intended to publicly recognize
these outstanding students.
The following students, parents
and grandparents attended the
luncheon.
Amy Young, who was
there with her mom, is a member of
the La Cañada Elementary School Student Council. She enjoys working
with and helping her fellow students
and loves spending time with
her dog “Sadie.” Her favorite
school subject is English. She likes
writing and drawing. Amy is active
in sports and is on the Spartan
Basketball Travel Team. She also
plays soccer with the AYSO.
Amy’s parents are James and Joy
Young.
Elizabeth Weinlein came with
her parents, Eric and Jill Weinlein.
Elizabeth is an assistant tutor and
works with the first graders several
times a week. She helps them with
their reading and their arithmetic.
Elizabeth enjoys singing and is a
member of the school choir. She
plays on the AYSO All Star team
and is a shortstop on her LCJB
Association baseball team.
Ryan Kim came with his proud
grandparents and his mom. His
parents are Scott and Susie Kim.
Ryan enjoys helping his classmates
and working with his teachers. His
favorite subject is science. He
plays the oboe and is a member of
the La Canada Elementary School
Concert Band. Ryan plays golf and
is a member of the Southern
California Junior PGA. He is a
member of the LCES Year Book
Staff.
Grant Owen was accompanied
by his parents, Matt and Leslie
Owen, Grant is a member of the La
Cañada Elementary School Student
Council. He is a Boy Scout and has
already earned eight merit badges.
He enjoys volunteering, working
with his teachers and assisting his
fellow classmates in their school
studies. Grant is a member of the
Spartan Basketball Travel Team and
a member of the La Cañada Junior
Baseball Travel Team.
