Special to the Outlook
The Rotary Club of La Cañada
Flintridge and Crescenta Valley
held a fundraiser honoring Jim
Wallace and Bruce Taylor for their
continued support of the humanitarian
organization at Chevy Chase
Country Club this past Saturday,
May 31. The Rotary “Cowpoke
Barbeque Hoedown” dinner
acknowledged Wallace with the
local “Rotarian of the Year” award
and Taylor with the “Community
Anchor of the Year” award.
For 18 years, Wallace has contributed
to his community by raising
funds for the underprivileged,
building playgrounds for schools
and picking up litter along Angeles
Crest Highway. His volunteer work
has included trips to Mississippi to
build houses for Habitat for
Humanity, and he was also a past
recipient of the Silver Bell Award,
the highest honor presented by
Rotary’s districts.
“He has been an absolutely
indispensable and unique contribution
to the community”, said
Rotary Club President John
Loomis.
Wallace, when asked about
the recognition, simply said,
“I’m honored to receive the
award. Helping the community
is my passion.”

unsurpassed commitment to the
group and the community,” said
Loomis. “Every year I can recall,
he has contributed to the
fundraisers. He also buys out all
the items for the auctions!”
“I feel privileged to be part
of such a great community as La
Cañada that does so many great
deeds for so many people,” said
Taylor.
