Local Gymnast Qualifies
For
National TOPS Testing
 Raine Gordon recently qualified
for TOPs National Testing at Bela &
Marta Karolyi’s Ranch in Houston,
Texas.
Gordon, who is entering fifth
grade at Paradise Canyon
Elementary, participated in TOPs
regional testing, which took place
throughout the summer, where she
had to perform physical abilities tests
including leg lifts, flexibility, vertical
jumps, sprint, handstand holds, cast
handstands, vertical jump and press
handstands.
Bela Karolyi’s ranch is the site
where the U.S. Olympic Team,
including Shawn Johnson and Nastia
Liukin, trains throughout the year.
Gordon trains 25 hours a week at
Charter Oak Gliders Gymnastics

in Covina. Her coaches are Stephen
and Beth Rybacki.
National TOPs testing will be
held October 3-5, and will consist of
the physical abilities as well as
required skills on each of the events
including vault, uneven bars, balance
beam and floor exercise.
