Les Tupper Award Winners Are
Gant, Hook, Saydah

The Les Tupper Community
Service Awards, among the most
prestigious volunteer honors for
local residents and organizations,
will be presented to Mary Gant,
Rosemary Hook and Jessica Saydah
on Monday, May 11, at 7 p.m. at
JPL’s vonKarman Auditorium.
Gant, who will receive the Les
Tupper Special Community Service
Award, is a dedicated volunteer in
many local organizations and was
the Kiwanis La Cañadan of the Year
in 2008.
Activities and organizations
include Kiwanis Club of La
Cañada, La Cañada Flintridge
Tournament of Roses Association
(immediate past president) and
business ambassador for the La
Cañada Flintridge Chamber of
Commerce.
Hook, who will receive the Les
Tupper Community Service Award,
is a longtime local resident who is a
teacher at Pasadena High School
and a religious education instructor
and eucharistic minister at St. Bede.
She has catered fundraising
events for the Lanterman Historical
Museum Foundation and is also
active with the LCF Tournament of
Roses Association, La Cañada
Library (including chairmanship of
the Friends of the Library), La
Cañada AM Kiwanis and Girl
Scouts.
Saydah, who will receive the
Les Tupper Youth Community
Service Award, is a senior at
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy,
where she is a member of the
Christian Action Ministry. Her
community service includes
Childrens Hospital Los Angeles,
National Charity League, Girl
Scouts and St. Bede.
