LC Youth Softball Team
Wins District Title

The La Cañada Flintridge girls’ 10-andunder
gold softball team captured the
Western District championship last weekend.
The team won all five games over the
weekend, outscoring its opponents 52-10.
La Cañada opened the tournament with a 13-
0 victory over Ojai, followed by a tough 7-3
win over Sylmar. On Sunday the team
defeated Antelope Valley 14-5, Fillmore 7-2
and completed the sweep with an 11-0 victory
over Newbury Park Gold in the championship
game.
Hanna Heileson continued her dominant
pitching by throwing a no hitter in the championship
game and finished with 34 strikeouts
over 18 innings in the Western District
Tournament. La Cañada swung the bat
extremely well with Hanna, Madeline Reilly,
Olivia Fitzpatrick, Hayleigh Evans, Kayla
Lund and Madeleine Russell all enjoying
multi-hit games in the tournament. Winning
the district title qualified La Cañada to play
in the ASA All Star State Championship in
San Diego July 17-19.
