"Take your flu shot and do an extra measure of good," was the announcement made recently by Bruce Dilbeck, an agent in Dilbeck Realtors' Pasadena office.
In a creative fund-raising approach, Tres Immune, Inc. principal Jean Lauricella, MD, has pledged to donate to the non-profit organization for each flu shot given at an upcoming flu clinic. Lauricella is a local pediatrician and board member of Hospice of Pasadena.
Bruce Dilbeck is hosting the Hospice of Pasadena Flu Clinic on Saturday, Oct. 8, at his office, 132 Colorado Blvd. (corner of Arroyo Parkway) in Pasadena from 9:30 a.m to noon. Flu shots are available for $27, the pneumovax (pneumonia shot) is available for $40 and a Tetanus shot is $40. Hospice of Pasadena will receive $5 from each shot given during the day.
An advance appointment is required and can be made by calling Hospice of Pasadena at (626) 397-3600. Cash or checks will be accepted.
"In taking a flu shot with us, you are doing two good deeds: protecting yourself and others from the coming flu season and supporting the generosity of Tres Immune, Inc.," said Dr. Jennifer Levin, executive director of the volunteer and counseling hospice.
Now in its 27th year, Hospice of Pasadena provides an array of services with compassion and respect to persons with life-threatening illnesses, persons socially isolated and frail, and bereaved children and adults. Their services are provided throughout the greater San Gabriel Valley and areas of Los Angeles with expanding efforts into the San Fernando Valley.
There is no charge for any of these services. As a non-profit volunteer hospice, the organization does not receive Medi-Cal or other insurance reimbursements. All of the center's income is derived solely from donations, private foundation grants and fundraising efforts.
