"Urban Distinction, the Anti-Tea Party" is a fundraising event at Art Center College of Design to benefit the AIDS Service Center. The event will be held this Sunday evening from 4 to 9 p.m. at Art Center's South Campus (950 S. Raymond Ave. in Pasadena).
Event coordinators are touting it as "an evening of visual and performance art. Anyone interested in the avant-garde, young, hip and edgy. Sample an array of culinary art and drinks from the area's top restaurants and caterers."
Experience the creation of art in several performance installations. At the entrance, performers dance around a new Audi A3 provided by Rusnak Automotive Group that is being raffled off in November. Opportunity tickets being sold for $50 each at the anti-Tea Party.
The event room will be spinning from the reflection of thousands of disco mirrors on the "Disco Pinto" as it revolves in the center of the room with walls morphing into psychedelic shapes in neon green, orange and sherbet colors. There will be numerous art creations simultaneously appearing in the former Wind Tunnel space at Art Center College of Designs South Campus.
The Indie Film Lounge will feature 10-minute short films will be shown. There will also be culinary art is passed from 13 of the areas restaurants. Live and silent auctions that will be taking place throughout the event which features visual hanging art, clay art from the Xiem Clay Center, and Asian art antiquities, all going to benefit AIDS Service Center.
